One of her last albums, released in 2012, was Gracias A Vosotros (Thanks to You), a collection of duets with some of her friends and admirers. The video was divided into two parts and uploaded to YouTube by praderaVEVO[^1^] [^3^].
Gracias A Vosotros was a commercial and critical success, reaching the top of the Spanish charts and earning a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. It was also a fitting farewell to a legend of Spanish music, who left a lasting imprint on generations of listeners and performers.
Maria Dolores Pradera was born in Madrid in 1924, into a family of artists and intellectuals. Her father was a painter and her mother was a pianist. She studied music and ballet from an early age, and also developed a passion for literature and theater. She made her debut as an actress in 1943, at the age of 19, in the play La Bella Dorotea by Miguel Mihura. She soon became a leading figure of the Spanish stage, working with directors such as Luis Escobar and Josà Tamayo, and actors such as Fernando FernÃn GÃmez, whom she married in 1945.
She also appeared in several films during the 1940s and 1950s, such as Es Peligroso Asomarse Al Exterior (1946), MarÃa Antonia La Caramba (1951), ZalacaÃn El Aventurero (1955), and La Venganza De Don Mendo (1961). However, she gradually lost interest in cinema and focused more on her musical career. She started singing professionally in 1954, at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, where she performed songs by Federico GarcÃa Lorca and Rafael de LeÃn. She also sang in nightclubs and cabarets, accompanied by guitarists such as Manolo de Vega and Los Gemelos.
She recorded her first album in 1966, titled MarÃa Dolores Pradera AcompaÃada Por Los Gemelos. The album was a success and established her as one of the most popular singers of Spanish and Latin American music. She continued recording albums throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, covering songs by composers such as AgustÃn Lara, Josà Alfredo JimÃnez, Chabuca Granda, Carlos Cano, Violeta Parra, Atahualpa Yupanqui, and Astor Piazzolla. She also toured extensively around Spain and Latin America, earning the admiration of audiences and critics alike. ec8f644aee
